Men’s wrestling: Akgül claims first gold for Turkey in Rio

Taha Akgül win gives Turkey 8th medal in Rio.

ANKARA (AA) – Taha Akgül on Saturday became the first Turkish male wrestler to win a gold medal at the Olympics.

 Akgül defeated Komeil Nemat Ghasemi of Iran 3-1 in the 125-kg freestyle event at the Rio Games.

The win increased Turkey’s medal count to eight overall, with one gold, three silvers and four bronzes.
