PKK attack kills 3 soldiers in Hakkari. 6 PKK terrorists killed in eastern Turkey. Turkish airstrikes neutralize 10 PKK terrorists in Iraq. 12 suspected PKK terrorists arrested in western Turkey.


The PKK ("Workers' Party of Kurdistan") is categorized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU. The group resumed its thirty-year long armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, the PKK terrorist attacks killed over 800 members of Turkish security forces. They have also killed more than 350 civilians, including one hundred children. At least 8600 PKK terrorists were killed in army operations during the same period.

Police forces and the Turkish army launched attacks against positions of the separatist terrorist organization PKK and pursue its armed members in the south and southeast of the country and in northern Iraq in response to terrorist attacks by the organization within Turkey, which target civilians and members of security forces.


6 PKK terrorists killed in eastern Turkey
ANKARA (AA) Servet Günerigök - Six PKK terrorists were killed Friday in anti-terror operations in eastern Turkey, the Turkish army announced on its official website Saturday.

According to a statement issued by the Turkish General Staff, two terrorists were killed in the Dogubeyazit district of Agri province.

Armed forces killed two others in the Semdinli district of Hakkari province and two others in the Uludere district of Sirnak.

In addition, a civilian was injured in a PKK attack at a checkpoint located in Sirnak, according to the Turkish General Staff.

The Turkish General Staff also provided details about various seizures in the southeastern region. 

Four improvised explosive devices, 250 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, 100 meters of cable wire and  five kilograms of hemp seeds were seized in Bingol’s Genc district.

Moreover, 10 tubes used to make improvised explosive devices were found in the Tatvan district of Bitlis during a road check.

An explosive device comprising of 10 kilograms of ammonium nitrate was also discovered in Hakkari’s Semdinli district and was destroyed. Some 350 kilograms of powdered marijuana were also seized in Hakkari.


PKK attack kills 3 soldiers in Hakkari

AA/Didar Yüsra Dilruba Öz (Turquie) / Yılmaz Kazandıoğlu et Nevzat Taş - At least three soldiers have been martyred and five others injured in a PKK attack in eastern Turkey, said a military source Saturday.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to media, said PKK terrorists attacked security forces with mortar shells in the Cukurca district of Hakkari province.

One soldier is in critical condition, said the source.

An operation was launched in the region to apprehend the perpetrators of the attack.
Turkish airstrikes neutralize 10 PKK terrorists in Iraq
AA/Ankara - Ahmet Sait Akçay - Turkish airstrikes “neutralized” 10 PKK terrorists in northern Iraq on Saturday, the army said.

 The Turkish Air Forces conducted airstrikes against PKK terrorist group targets, neutralizing 10 terrorists in northern Iraq, according to a statement emailed by the Turkish General Staff.

The air operation was carried out in the Avashin Basyan region, destroying four artillery PKK positions in the area, it added.

The operation came just after three soldiers were martyred and five others injured in a PKK attack in the southeastern Turkish province of Hakkari on Saturday afternoon.


12 suspected PKK terrorists arrested in western Turkey

Mustafa Yıldırım - Halil Şahin, Duygu Yener - Sertaç Bulur - Turkey, (AA) – Twelve suspected members of the youth wing of the terrorist group PKK have been arrested Saturday in the western Turkish province of Izmir, security forces said.

Police received information that the suspected terrorists were preparing to target security forces with improvised explosive devices on Saturday, during celebrations for Turkey's Republic Day, security sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.

The preparations for an attack may have been linked to the arrest of Diyarbakir mayor Gultan Kisanak, the security sources said.

The mayor of southeastern Turkey’s largest city was arrested late Tuesday as part of an anti-terrorism investigation.

The Chief Prosecutor's Office in Diyarbakir said in a statement Wednesday that the mayor was arrested on charges of “being a member of an armed terrorist group”.

Materials used for making bombs were also found during the operation in Izmir, the security sources added.

In a separate operation, six PKK and six Daesh members were arrested in the capital Ankara according to the Ankara Police Department.
