The PKK ( "Workers' Party of Kurdistan") is categorized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU. The group resumed its thirty-year long armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, the PKK terrorist attacks killed over 800 members of Turkish security forces. They have also killed more than 350 civilians, including one hundred children. At least 8200 PKK terrorists were killed in army operations during the same period.

Police forces and the Turkish army launched attacks against positions of the separatist terrorist organization PKK and pursue its armed members in the south and southeast of the country and in northern Iraq in response to terrorist attacks by the organization within Turkey, which target civilians and members of security forces.

 

PKK attacks minibus in Diyarbakır, 2 village guards killed

 
DIYARBAKIR, Turkey (AA) – Two village guards were killed and three others wounded when the PKK terrorist group attacked a minibus with rocket-propelled grenades in southeastern Diyarbakır province Wednesday, according to a military source.  

The guards came under attack when they were returning from the Tepe region following a security operation, the source, who spoke anonymously due to restrictions on talking to media, said.

The casualties were taken to the Diyarbakır Selahattin Eyyubi State Hospital.

An operation to nab the assailants remains underway.

Meanwhile, a PKK terrorist was killed and another was wounded in an operation against the terrorist group in northeast Turkey’s Erzincan province Wednesday, the regional governor’s office said in a statement.

Gendarmes also seized two Kalashnikovs, two backpacks, two umbrellas, a walkie-talkie and a pair of binoculars, the statement added.

 

Turkish jets hit PKK positions in Hakkari

Sarp Özer - Emin Avundukluoğlu - ANKARA (AA) - Turkish military jets have destroyed PKK positions and shelters close to the Iraqi border, the military said Wednesday.

A shelter in the mountainous Çukurca district of Hakkari province was hit by warplanes Monday at around 4.50 p.m. local time (1350GMT), the Turkish General Staff said in a statement. A mission on Monday evening in the same area saw jets strike further PKK positions.

 

Turkish army eliminated thirteen PKK terrorists in Tunceli province

AA - Sinan Uslu, Ayşe Betül Gedikoğlu - The Turkish armed forces have neutralized, this week, thirteen armed members of the terrorist organization PKK in the countryside of Tunceli province, in the east of Turkey, Turkish military sources announced on Wednesday.

Military sources said that an air operation was carried out by drones and reconnaissance planes in the mentioned region.

After assessment, an operation was conducted in the area, between 16 and 18 October 2016, which helped neutralize thirteen terrorists and intercept another one, wounded, the sources said.

Many weapons and documents from the organizations were also seized, according to the sources.
