The PKK ( "Workers' Party of Kurdistan") is categorized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU. The group resumed its thirty-year long armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
Since then, the PKK terrorist attacks killed over 800 members of Turkish security forces. They have also killed more than 350 civilians, including one hundred children. At least 8200 PKK terrorists were killed in army operations during the same period.
Police forces and the Turkish army launched attacks against positions of the separatist terrorist organization PKK and pursue its armed members in the south and southeast of the country and in northern Iraq in response to terrorist attacks by the organization within Turkey, which target civilians and members of security forces.
Soldier killed in PKK attack in HakkariYılmaz Kazandıoğlu - HAKKARİ, Turkey (AA) - Diyar Güldoğan- A Turkish soldier was killed Sunday by a bomb planted along a highway by the PKK terrorist organization in the southeastern Hakkari province, security sources said.
According to the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, the explosive detonated when soldiers were clearing mines along the Hakkari-Van highway.
An operation in the region is underway to apprehend the terrorists, the sources added.
11 PKK terrorists apprehended in Mardin
Yılmaz Kazandıoğlu - HAKKARİ, Turkey (AA) - Diyar Güldoğan - Separately, 11 PKK terrorists were apprehended by security forces in an operation in the southeastern Mardin province, the governor's office said Sunday.It added that several weapons were also seized during the operation.
Six PKK sites destroyed in air raids in Tunceli
AA/ Ankara / Sarp Özer - Ghanem Hasan - The Turkish air force destroyed Sunday six positions of the PKK terrorist organization in the countryside of the province of Tunceli, in eastern Turkey.
Military sources said the air strikes were carried out based on intelligence reports of terrorist positions in the mentioned region.
Turkish fighter aircraft returned to their bases after completing their mission, the same sources emphasized.
The Turkish security forces are targeting positions of the separatist terrorist organization PKK, and pursue their armed elements in the south and southeast of the country and in northern Iraq.
These operations take place in response to sporadic attacks by PKK against civilians and security forces.
